Enter Text or Numbers - Excel on Computer
  1. Double-click on the cell to activate the cursor. Type the text or number into the cell.
  2. Note that what you type in the cell also appears in the formula bar above.
The first callout shows that you have to double-click on a cell to activate the cursor, and type the text into the cell. The second callout shows that whatever you type in the cell will also appear in the formula bar above.



  1. Press the "Enter" or "Return" key on the keyboard to commit the changes to the cell. In this case, doing so will add numbers to columns D and J.
This image shows that when you press "Enter" or "Return" it will commit the changes that you made to the cell.
